DATEXÂ II packages addressed by the RRP The types of data on infrastructure
Location of recharging points for electric vehicles and the conditions for their use
The reference profile defines the minimum required information to communicate the geographic location of electric vehicle (EV) recharging infrastructure—specifically recharging pools. This includes the precise position of individual recharging points and the conditions governing their use.
A recharging pool refers to an area equipped with one or more charging stations, which may consist of wall-mounted units (wallboxes) or free-standing installations connected to an electrical supply. Each station can include multiple recharging points, allowing several EVs to charge simultaneously. While a single recharging point may offer multiple connectors, it can serve only one vehicle at a time.
The minimum dataset must include:
- The exact location of the infrastructure (including entrance and exit points if relevant)
- Contact details
- Opening hours
- Accepted payment methods
- Permitted vehicle characteristics (e.g. size, weight)
This level of detail is particularly important for larger facilities or those located along motorways where entry and exit points may differ or directional access rules apply.
- CEN/TC 278/WG 8 provides the following conceptual mapping of the infrastructure hierarchy:
- Charging pool: location data, brand name, charge point operator
- Charging station: physical object, authentication methods
- Charging point: attributes related to energy delivery
- Connector/plug: attributes related to physical compatibility
DATEX II provides EnergyInfrastructureTablePublication for locations of recharging points for electric vehicles. More information about the EnergyInfrastructureTablePublication will be provided soon.
